PGY2 (PGPPP)

Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP) for PGY2

What can you do as a junior doctor with a genuine interest in rural and Indigenous health looking for some experience in tropical and third world medicine? After the rigours of the intern year, how can you find an interesting placement that takes you out of the confines of your hospital wards and enables you to work in a rural setting where you can experience direct care of patients with the opportunity to provide follow-up treatment?

Apply for a PGPPP Placement on Thursday Island!

One of the most exciting initiatives included in the Medicare Plus package provides junior doctors with an opportunity to work in general practice. The Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM) has been given the role of managing the program through local training collaborations. Tropical Medical Training as the Program Coordinator in North Queensland will be managing the following placements:

PGY2 - Thursday Island, Torres Strait.

TMT’s Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP) represents an opportunity for postgraduate doctors to gain exposure to rural and remote practice over a 10-13 week period, with access to high quality training in procedural and other practice skills.

Participants undertake placements that are supervised by highly experienced and supported medical practitioners.
