Indigenous Health Training
There are a lot of exciting training posts available within the TMT area for GP Registrars wanting to train and work in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Most training posts have a major focus on population-based and public health, and Registrars often complete a Master of Public Health (MPH) while working in these posts.
There are currently 8 dedicated Indigenous Health training posts available to TMT Registrars in hospitals and clinics that have a degree of community control. Training within these posts provides great preparation for GP Registrars with an interest in a career in Indigenous Health.
Exceptional support is on offer to GP Registrars wanting to train/work within Indigenous Health including:
- A dedicated Indigenous development officer employed by TMT to assist Registrars with all aspects of understanding the workings of Indigenous Health/Indigenous community etc.
- Attendance at fully-funded Cross Cultural workshops and retreats.
- Funding to attend the Bi-Annual Laura Festival.
- Cultural Mentors employed within communities to assist Registrars
