Hospital Based

What can you do as an intern with a genuine interest in general practice? How can you find an interesting placement that takes you out of the confines of the hospital wards and enables you to work in a real life setting of a GP practice where you can experience direct care of patients with the opportunity to provide follow-up treatment?

Apply for a PGPPP Placement!

The Prevocational General Practice Placements program (PGPPP) provides junior doctors with professional, well supervised and educational general practice placements as part of their training.

The aims of the program are to:

  • Build junior doctors’ confidence, exposure and interest in working in urban, regional, rural and remote areas through supervised general practice placements of varying duration, approximately 10–12 weeks
  • Increase junior doctors’ understanding of the integration between primary and secondary health care
  • Provide an experience that allows junior doctors to make informed decisions when considering a career in general practice.
