Tropical Medical Training

GP Registrars who commence their training after 1 January 2011 are eligible to apply for leave from the following:

• Category 1 Leave: prescribed by law - Includes annual leave, personal leave, sick leave, carer's leave, parental leave, etc.
• Category 2 Leave: additional leave - For GP Registrars who wish to apply for leave from the AGPT program for personal, educational or career. Category 2 leave is restricted to a maximum of twelve months and can only be taken after a GP Registrar has commenced training
• Category 3 Leave: extraordinary leave - In extraordinary circumstances the RTP may approve a one-off extension of twelve months of Category 2 leave

If you need to take leave from GP Training you should discuss this with your Training Advisor. Please be aware that all leave must be approved in advance by TMT. Depending on which stage of training you are at, your leave entitlements will differ.

During a hospital placement, you will be employed under the award arrangements of that hospital.
