Overseas Training Posts
It is possible for GP Registrars to undertake some of their training in overseas training posts, however, all overseas training undertaken by GP Registrars must be approved prospectively and meet all other requirements of the TMT Training Program.
A maximum of 6 months training in accredited training practices in countries with training programs leading to qualifications acceptable for vocational registration in Australia may be counted as all or part of the GPT2 GP terms or as all or part of the GPT3 GP training. Not less than 2 of the 3 core years of training must be completed in Australia and GPT1 GP terms must be completed in RACGP accredited practices in Australia. The post-intern year of training should normally be completed in Australia.
