Why Train With TMT?

As a training provider that covers more than two-thirds of Queensland, TMT is uniquely positioned geographically to offer a breadth of clinical training experiences and a lifestyle unparalleled elsewhere in Australia.

TMT trains GP Registrars towards a Fellowship of ACRRM and/or RACGP. GP Registrars uncover the diversity of General Practice medicine with the array of clinical environments, which prepare the GP Registrar for careers in Indigenous health, rural, remote and urban situations.

TMT has a large procedural and practical based skills training with opportunities for enhanced training with Extended Skills Posts and Advanced Rural Skills Posts (ARSPs) including Primary Care, Pallative Care, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Anaesthetics and Obstetrics.

There are 9 Indigenous Health Training opportunities in TMT's region, from Senior Medical Officer positions at Thursday Island to The Paediatric Outreach Program based out of Cairns. There are several Aboriginal Medical Services in North and Western Queensland, providing training opportunities in Aboriginal and Indigenous Health. TMT welcomes enquires from other RTP GP Registrars interested in training at one of our IHT posts.

TMT is heavily involved in the Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP) with positions available in Townsville and Thursday Island.
